Treating Problems with Bones, Muscles & Joints

What is a Chiropractor?

A Chiropractor is an allied health professional that has studied for five years at university to  manage conditions relating to your bones, muscles, and joints (musculoskeletal system).  Chiropractors take a thorough history and conduct a series of assessments to  identify the source of your pain or discomfort, and then use the most effective techniques to treat you.

Chiropractors are trained to help your body heal by performing adjustments, recommending exercises and providing nutritional, dietary and lifestyle advice to support your recovery.

We use Functional Neuro Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (FNOR) to help assess and treat clients. FNOR is “a systematic, evidence-based approach intended to improve outcomes and efficiency in physical rehabilitation.” FNOR uses Integrative Rehabilitation, which is “an approach to physical rehabilitation that seeks to address the individual as a whole, employing a range of physical and technological applications combined with internal, non-physical methods of healing. ”¹

Our team uses the Sacro Occipital Technique (S.O.T.) in our treatments. S.O.T. is a gentle and effective method that helps assess and treat spinal and nervous system issues. It is effective for babies and older people.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a comprehensive, gentle, and innovative chiropractic technique. Its name is derived from the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull).

One of the sacrum functions is to pump Cerebro-Spinal Fluid (CSF) from the base of the spine back up the spinal canal to the brain and throughout the nervous system. CSF acts as the circulatory system of the brain and spinal cord.

The pelvis forms the foundational support of the human skeleton. It supports the upper body right up to the skull and enables us to transfer our weight to our legs. The spine holds our body upright, supports all our organs, and provides muscle anchor points. It also protects our nervous system. The nervous system controls our body and can only function normally when our structures are balanced and our pelvis is stable. SOT chiropractic care facilitates this balance for optimal health.

With advanced S.O.T. Certification, we teach the methodology to students and other Chiropractors at seminars.

The Activator Method chiropractic technique uses a hand-held mechanical instrument called an “activator adjusting instrument”. This instrument allows your Chiropractor to provide a quick, low-force impulse at specific points on the body. The Activator Method is the only instrument-adjusting technique with research backing its efficacy.
